Travel Counsellors Launch Remastered ITT Accredited Training Platform

Travel Counsellors has launched its remastered training platform, which offers new and existing Travel Counsellors a personalised digital learning experience, by combining the latest technology with a people first culture.

During the pandemic, the organisation embraced and invested in more digital learning to enable travel professionals to join the business and still have a personal induction experience, despite not being there in person. What started as an initial pilot, inspired the Learning and Development Team to take additional steps to fully re-design the induction and training programme based on its success and the feedback of the community. This would build on the organisation’s well established onboarding program, supported by an award-winning online coaching platform.

As a result, the company has announced that this latest training is fully accredited by the Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT), who recognise companies and organisations that offer high-quality training and development for industry staff.

Matt Harding, Head of Recruitment & Onboarding at Travel Counsellors states

“We are delighted to re-launch our learning programme in partnership with the ITT. Through this partnership, we have ensured that our learning pathway aligns with the requirements and recognised standards of the travel industry, whilst also providing those who complete the training with added confidence as they embark on their new career.”

By embracing technology, Travel Counsellors are now positioned to provide training which is more accessible and flexible around learners and learning habitats. All content is available on demand, meaning that Travel Counsellors can be anywhere in the world, learning at any time of day, which enables them to manage their development in a way that suits them, achieving the perfect work/life balance.

Induction programmes are held virtually using a blend of trainer-led sessions, video content and masterclasses with subject matter experts from across the business. All new Travel Counsellors use the latest technology to access a virtual classroom and are connected to a community of over 1,400 Travel Counsellors and a further 600 overseas.

Since March 2020, the company has helped over 175 individuals make the move to start their own businesses, with many using this time to lay solid foundations, in anticipation of the inevitable upturn in travel and the increased customer need for a trusted travel advisor.

Travel Counsellor Grant Bowles states

“I really enjoyed my trainer-led induction to Travel Counsellors as it was inclusive, exciting, and the learning platform allowed everyone to participate and collaborate. After the initial induction, further learning modules were available on-demand, to complete around my own schedule, and at my own pace, and thanks to the strong community at Travel Counsellors, there is always help at hand from different people around the business, if you need support. Joining the team and becoming a Travel Counsellor has been the best decision I ever made.”

Claire Steiner, Chair of the ITT Education & Training Committee added

“Travel Counsellors have continued to innovate and enhance their training offering, ensuring that their team are provided with all the knowledge and fundamentals to deliver the best advice and service to their clients.”
