Alan Whiteside Bestowed NI Special Achievement Award

Alan Whiteside has served on notable industry bodies such as the Civil Aviation Defence Planning & Liaison Committee and DfT Aircraft Noise Monitoring Advisory Committee

This year’s recipient of the NI Special Achievement Award is Alan Whiteside, who has enjoyed a marathon association spanning 43 years which he has served with distinction until his well-deserved retirement last month.

Initially commencing his employment at Belfast International Airport as a Firefighter back in Autumn 1980 he rose through the Company ranks to the position of Duty Operations Officer. He furthered his career by transferring initially to Edinburgh as an Operations Manager before subsequently moving south to Stansted and Heathrow in 1997.

In 2002, Whiteside completed a full lap of the geography of the UK by returning home to Belfast to take up the position of Operations Director at Belfast International Airport in 2002.

Alan Whiteside has served on notable industry bodies such as the Civil Aviation Defence Planning & Liaison Committee and DfT Aircraft Noise Monitoring Advisory Committee during his years of tenure in the London area.

Representatives at Belfast International Airport congratulated Alan Whiteside on the accolade,  stating that “Alan has been a valued member of Belfast International Airport for many years. We are delighted he has received this award and we thank him for his hard work and dedication. We wish him well for the future.”
