UK Foreign Office Eases Travel Warnings for Ecuador

The UK Foreign Office announced that Ecuador is no longer on the yellow list

The UK Foreign Office announced that Ecuador has been moved to the green list for travel.

Visitors had warned against non- essential travel to Ecuador since June due to civil unrest, although it didn’t impact travel to the Galapagos Islands.

The Minister of Tourism of Ecuador Niels Olsen said: “We are delighted to be back on the UK foreign Office’s green list, and I express my special gratitude to the Ambassador of Great Britain in Ecuador Chris Campbell and our Foreign Minister Juan Carlos Holguin for their efforts to achieve this through diplomatic dialogue.”

The FCDO still advises against all but essential travel to most areas within 20km of the Ecuadorean border with Colombia
