Yet another top Spanish tourist spot could be set to implement a new tourist tax.

Madrid is currently awaiting a new mayor as voting campaigns have began- Fromer tourism minister Reyes Maroto is currently running.

Her campaign includes the possibility of imposing a tourist fee for visitors into the city.

Much like other cities in Europe and neighbouring Barcelona, the tax would be placed on overnight stays and charged at per night.

Valencia have also approved of a tourism tax which will be felt be visitors by the end of 2023.

The goal of the tax is to help aid tourism-related infrastructure and to aid promotion of the city.
