‘The Worst Thing We’ve Ever Experienced’ Busted Star’s Water Nightmare

In a harrowing instagram post, Busted's Charlie Simpson issued a warning to parents

In a harrowing instagram post, Busted’s Charlie Simpson issued a warning to parents after his four year old son, Jago was taken to hospital suffering from “secondary drowning” while on a family holiday.

Simpson’s son was diagnosed with secondary drowning after swimming underwater in the hotel pool while on a family holiday.

Initially, upon exiting the water, Jago was coughing but seemed to recover until the evening time. When Simon states that his son became lethargic and began to vomit.

After informing the doctor that Jago was coughing in the pool, the doctor informed Jago’s parents to take him to the hospital ‘straight away.’

En route to the hospital, Jago’s condition began to worsen as he began to slip in and out of consciousness.

Simpson relayed that, ” He was rushed through to have CT scans and X-Rays and to our absolute horror, we were told that he had water in his lungs and was minutes away from pneumonia.”

Adding that, “Jago was diagnosed with secondary drowning.”

“He spent the next three days in hospital and I’m so thankful for the amazing care he received. It was the worst thing we have ever experienced.

“The scariest thing of all, is that had we not taken him to hospital when we did, the outcome could have been very different.”

Simpson posted about his son’s condition on instagram, with hopes that “it helps just one person avoid a similar situation, it will be worth it.”

Drowning is one of the leading causes of death globally for children and young people aged 1-24 years. With an estimation that 236,000 people drown every year.

In light of recent tragedies along with the warm weather, organisations such as National Water Safety and Royal Life Saving Society are advising people to take measures to ensure safety when in water, whether it be in a swimming pool or any body of water.
