The summer brought some good news for Northern Ireland holidaymakers – double vaccinated travellers no longer need to quarantine when returning from an Amber list country, the NI Executive added SEVEN countries to its travel Green List giving both vaccinated and unvaccinated holidaymakers across the Province more choice for a late summer getaway and the government took steps to crack down on rogue PCR test providers and indeed the next update may see them scrapped altogether!

The latest edition includes the most up-to-date information on travelling during Covid-19 and the latest staff travels – Nigel Heath chatted to hotelier Scott Fisher on St Martins to find out how hotels have been coping through the pandemic and what’s new on the horizon now restrictions are lifting; Heidi McAlpin took her family on a road-trip across England, making sure they packed their itinerary with something to keep all the family happy; Nigel Heath and his walking companion, the poet Peter Gibbs, strapped their hiking boots on once more as they tackled the Test Way; Andrea McVeigh and her husband Patric Baird jetted off to join Celebrity Apex on a cruise around the Greek Islands; Aaron Fletcher of Travel Solutions and his wife Jenny were on board Norwegian Epic for a four night cruise from Barcelona to celebrate their ‘Big Cruise Bounce Back’ and NI Travel News’ very own Sarah Pickering and her boyfriend jetted off on a much-needed break to Tenerife, letting their thirst for adventure take them to attempt some daring rides in Siam Park.

The 29th Northern Ireland Travel & Tourism Awards in association with Blue Insurance, was launched at The BIG Travel Trade Event and voting is OPEN NOW! The Awards winners this year will truly reflect the unprecedented time this industry has gone through in the past two years since the last Awards.

As in previous years there will be competition incentives in the public voting categories for local hotel breaks including getaways to the Maldron Hotel, Belfast International airport, AC Mariott, Belfast and the Dunadry Hotel & Gardens.

Voting is now open in all categories on the NI Travel News website – www.nitravelnews.com – and via the latest edition. Voting will close at the end of September, a shorter time than normal due to the circumstances.
