Spanish Flight Arrivals to Hit 99.6% of 2019 Levels, Cirium Reveals

During May 2023, 85,223 flights are scheduled to arrive into Spanish airports

During May 2023, 85,223 flights are scheduled to arrive into Spanish airports – equating to over 14.5 million seats. Arrivals into Spanish airports are projected to reach 99.6% of 2019 levels, with May 2019 recording 85,539 arriving flights.

Departures are up 8% compared to May 2022, and 189% up compared to May 2021, showing the continued recovery of the industry after the detrimental time of covid-19.

The most popular international airports for arrivals into Spain will be London Gatwick, Amsterdam, Manchester, Lisbon and London Stansted, as many travellers look towards the sun destination this summer.

Ryanair is projected to be the largest airline in terms of Spanish flight arrivals (20% of all flights) during May 2023, followed by Vueling (15%), Iberia (13%), Binter Canarias (8%) and easyJet (6%)

Madrid Airport is projected to see the highest number of scheduled arrivals during May, followed by Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Malaga and Alicante.
