The Slieve Donard Hotel in Newcastle, County Down in Northern Ireland is set to reopen in the summer/autumn 2023.
After Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts took over Slieve Donard Hotel in 2021, the American company have set out to revamp the stunning hotel on the coastal front.
Slieve Donard Resort & Spa is regarded as one of the most iconic hotels in Northern Ireland, with past guests including Charlie Chaplin, Tiger Woods, Catherine Zeta Jones, King Leopold (of Belgium), Dame Judi Dench and many more.
Joining sister properties Rusacks St Andrews, Marine North Berwick and Marine Troon in Scotland, Slieve Donard will be the portfolio’s fourth property in the UK – and first in Northern Ireland – since 2021.
Many of the 181 rooms offer panoramic views over the mountains of Mourne and County Down coastline – all of which will be completely refurbished. The public spaces, food & beverage outlets and meetings/ events spaces will also undergo a complete design overhaul, paying homage to the destination’s seaside beauty and rich traditions.
Positioned adjacent to the world-renowned Royal County Down Golf Club, with the the mountains of Mourne on its doorstep, the destination offers fantastic walking, climbing and golf experiences, while the iconic Tollymore Forest Park is just a few minutes away by car.
