Prime Minister, Boris Johnson is expected to announce a relation of Plan B Covid-19 restrictions in England. With sources reporting that this announcement could be made over the course of coming days.

The relaxation of Plan B restrictions would mean that vaccinated travellers may be able to travel back to the United Kingdom without the requirement of a Covid test upon arrival.

However, unvaccinated travellers would still need to take arrival tests.

Other restrictions which would be revoked would include vaccine passes for large events or nightclubs, along with the work from home guidelines.

Face masks may remain mandatory in retail and on public transport.

Health Secretary, Sajid Javid highlighted that “due to these pharmaceutical defences and the likelihood that we have already reached the peak of the case numbers of hospitalisations, I am cautiously optimistic that we will be able to substantially reduce restrictions next week.”

If announced, these changes are expected before the end of January.

The Northern Ireland Executive have yet to announce any change to Covid-19 regulations.
