Osaka Street Food Tour with Bamboo Travel

Asia specialist Bamboo Travel has introduced a new Osaka Street Food Tour

As the Rugby World Cup, currently taking place in Japan heads towards the quarter final stages, Asia specialist Bamboo Travel has introduced a new Osaka Street Food Tour, in a city more laid back and casual than Tokyo, and a genuine foodie’s paradise.

One of the city’s sayings, Kuidaore, means ‘to eat yourself to ruin’, and there are no shortages of options in Osaka for those wishing to put this philosophy to the test!

The new, fun, street food tour, goes through Osaka’s vibrant Namba District, starting with the bright lights of Dotonburi.
This is the heart of Namba and home to a vast array of restaurants and street food stalls. Marvel at the neon-lined streets and stop for a picture with the iconic ‘Glico Running Man’ before diving in to try some of the multitude of food options.

Some of the food you will have the chance to sample on this tour include Takoyaki, which are Osaka’s famous ‘octopus balls’ (and not to be missed!) and Kushikatsu, which are deep-fried skewered meats and vegetables.

There will also be an opportunity to experience a true local Osakan experience at an Izakaya, which is a traditional pub/casual restaurant which serves a range of dishes.

The tour, which can be arranged as a private or shared experience, is available on a number of Bamboo Travel’s itineraries including the 15-day Japan’s Spiritual Heartland, which also provides a chance to enjoy a cookery class in Kyoto (at a supplement)…
Highlights of the tour, which is ideal for walkers, culture seekers and return visitors, include guided city tours of Tokyo, Osaka & Kyoto, a night spent on the holy mountain of Mt. Koya, a three-day hike on the Kumano Kodo trails, and an evening being entertained by a traditional geisha.
