Health Minister Robin Swann, after taking legal advise, is set to lift all remaining covid restrictions in Northern Ireland this afternoon (Tuesday 15)

The restrictions which is current law will be moved to opted guidance for the country.

Measures that will be removed after the announcement will include, mandatory mask wearing,  covid certificates within establishments such as nightclubs, track and trace measures and the allowance of 30 or less people within households.

Despite this step to furthering the fight over covid, Mr Swann urged the public to continue working to protect each other.

“It is vitally important that we continue to observe the sensible measures we have all learnt to protect ourselves and others.” Mr Swann said.

The Northern Ireland travel sector had shared delight in the recent removal by the executive to eliminate the need for a covid test prior to arrival in the country, however, this was overshadowed by the resignation of the First Minister.

The travel sector continues to rally for support in terms of funding which was hinted to be given prior to this falling out within the executive.
