Ireland’s Department of Health has said that controversial hotel quarantine system will continue “long as is considered necessary”.

The system was introduced in Ireland in March this year and has seen more than 10,000 visitors to the country spend two weeks in supervised hotel quarantine.

A Department of Health spokesperson said the Department will “keep the requirement for mandatory hotel quarantine under regular review.
