In what Carnival has dubbed a “Thanksgiving Miracle”, a cruise ship passenger managed to survive 15 hours at sea after falling overboard in the US.
The 28-year-old man had been on Carnival Cruise Line’s Valor sailing in the Gulf of Mexico.
The alarm was raised by his sister when he failed to return to the bar after going to the toilet.
A full-scale search of the ship commenced and the cruise liner retraced its steps.
The Coast Guard and all ships within a 300km area were also called in to help look for the missing man.
The man was spotted spotted 30km off the coast of Southwest Pass, a channel at the mouth of the Mississippi River in southeast Louisiana.
