Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s Autumn Budget could see a rise in air passenger duty for long-haul flights.
The Chancellor could also introduce a new, lower rate specifically for domestic flights.
According to a report in the Guardian, a higher fee for long haul would offset a cut in APD for short flights.
APD charges currently fall into two bands – flights under 2,000 miles and flights over 2,000 miles.
APD is paid by airlines and passed on to the customer in higher fares.
