Israeli Officials Recommend Review On Restrictions

Israeli officials agreed last night (Wednesday 16 February) on recommending a series of reductions on Coronavirus restrictions

Israel health Minister Nitzan Horowitz and senior Ministry of Health officials agreed last night (Wednesday 16 February) on recommending a series of reductions on Coronavirus restrictions imposed following the outbreak of the Omicron stage to the Israeli government for review.

The restrictions being put forward for approval from the Israeli government include:

  • Foreign children under the age of 12 who are accompanied by a fully vaccinated parent will be allowed the enter the country with a charge of isolation until a negative test is obtained
  • All tests on flights back to Israel will be removed. Arrivals will only need to complete one single PCR test on arrival at Ben Gurion airport.
  • A green pass in at-risk events such as wedding and conference halls will not be extended and will end on March 1st.

Further to the restrictions being recommended to relax, a number of Covid-19 restrictions will remain in place. Unvaccinated foreigners over the age of 12 will not be permitted access into Israel and face masks remain compulsory in all enclosed spaces until further notice.

Sharon Ehrlich Bershadsky, Director, Israel Government Tourist office in London commented that  “We are extremely happy with this news on the expected relaxations in all Omicron restrictions. Travelling as a family has been hard to navigate over the past couple of years and we hope that soon the process will be even easier for tourists looking to come and enjoy the abundant experiences Israel has to offer, or for those looking to reunite with loved ones.”
