India Eases Travel Testing Measures

Fully Vaccinated British Travellers heading to India will no longer be required to take a pre-travel test or undergo mandatory quarantine upon arrival

Fully Vaccinated British Travellers heading to India will no longer be required to take a pre-travel test or undergo mandatory quarantine upon arrival.

From 00.01 on 14 February, visitors who can prove full-vaccination status with a recognised Covid vaccine will be able to complete a pre-travel declaration form and “self-monitor” for the first fourteen days of their trip.

This will replace the previous requirement to take a PCR test prior to departure and complete a mandatory week-long quarantine upon arrival.

This change to travel testing rules was confirmed by India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in a recent February bulletin.

India has also removed the requirement to take a day-eight test following the traveller’s arrival.

Unvaccinated travellers from the UK will still be required to take a pre-travel PCR test but will no longer be required to quarantine following arrival. With only a requirement to also “self-monitor” for two weeks after arrival.
