Flight Delays and Cancellations Could Stretch on Until Next Year

Flight troubles could stretch into next year if UK government don't streamline security check rules for staff

Heathrow Airport’s Chief Executive has predicted that flight delays and cancellations could be the norm for the next 18 months if the UK government don’t streamline the security checking process for new staff.

Speaking at the Financial Times’ Global Boardroom conference, Mr Hollan-Kay said: “I think it will take 12 to 18 months for the aviation sector to fully recover capacity, so we will have to really carefully manage supply and demand.”

He also urged the government to streamline rules for security background checks to help speed up the new staff recruitment process.
