Finnair is set to resume flights to the Chinese city of Guangzhou after an absence of over two years.

The Finnish flag carrier will relaunch services with a direct weekly flight from Helsinki on September 6, as it continues to rebuild its long-haul Asian network.

Services will depart the Finnish capital each Tuesday at 14:45, arriving into Guangzhou the following morning at 08:15. The return flight will depart the Chinese city at 09:50 each Thursday, arriving into Finnair’s home at 18:10.

Ole Orvér, Finnair Chief Commercial Officer, said:

“We are excited to return to Guangzhou and look forward to gradually increasing our offering for the Chinese market.”

Customers will be able to experience Finnair’s state-of-the-art A350, which generates around 25% less emissions than previous generation aircraft.

The new service will offer transfer customers a smooth transition between Europe and Asia, with the required Chinese COVID-19 testing available at Helsinki Airport.

The vast port city of Guangzhou is one of China’s largest urban areas, and the country’s main transport and trading hub.

Visitors to Guangzhou can immerse themselves in its famous Cantonese cuisine, as well as enjoying the city’s ancient temples and shimmering skyscrapers.

Finnair also flies to China’s largest city, Shanghai, once a week, as well as a range of popular Asian destinations, including Tokyo and Bangkok

Currently, the Nordic carrier flies from Helsinki to London Heathrow, Manchester, Dublin and Edinburgh, allowing easy connections to China and convenient destinations around the world.
