EU Reintroduces Travel Restrictions on the USA

The EU has reintroduced travel restrictions on the USA following rising numbers of Covid cases in the country.

The EU made the recommendation across all its member states.

In addition to the US, the EU Council has also removed Israel, Kosovo, Lebanon, Montenegro and North Macedonia from its ‘safe travel’ list.

The advice applies to unvaccinated travellers and is non-binding.

Fully vaccinated travellers from the US are still allowed to enter Ireland without any travel-related testing or quarantine, although those who are planning to travel to Northern Ireland need to check the requirements as NI is part of the UK and therefore has separate requirements to Ireland.

Travellers who can prove recent recovery from Covid-19 can also travel freely to Ireland.

The US currently continues to restrict entry for non-citizens travelling from Ireland, the UK and Schengen Area.
