Dublin Airport Announces Plan for Four Million More Seats

New report shows that as many as 30.1 MILLION seats could be available out of Dublin next summer

A new report from Airport Coordination Limited (ACL), which coordinates take-off and landing slots for 72 airports around the world, has shown that as many as 30.1 million seats could be available out of Dublin Airport next summer.

This represents an increase of 4.4 million on the previous year.

Ryanair and Aer Lingus are currently the biggest airline flying out of Dublin.

Aer Lingus could have as many as 788,000 more seats available, bringing its total seats for sale to almost 8.8 million.

Meanwhile, low-cost airline Ryanair could have an additional 1.68 million, for a total of almost 12.9 million.

Emerald Airlines, which operates the Aer Lingus regional service on a franchise basis, also looks set to considerably boost its operations for next summer.

However, industry sources said that the number of take-off and landing slots allocated, and the potential number of seats, might not materialise as airlines hedge their bets and make final decisions in the coming weeks.

It has been reported that the airport could also re-establish a direct link with Asia next summer, with reports that China’s Hainan Airlines are tipped to restart its service to Beijing.

The ACL report also noted that Delta, who operated flights from Dublin to Atlanta for over 30 years, may operate a service from Dublin to Minneapolis-St Paul next summer.
