Drunk and Disorderly Tourists Anger Spanish Locals

Spanish locals have reacted angrily to scenes of drunken and disorderly conduct from holidaymakers

Residents of the Majorcan town of Playa de Palma in the Balearic Islands have reacted angrily to scenes of drunken tourists brawling in the streets.

Residents have complained of “unstoppable” tourists “setting fire to beach parasols,  “breaking litter bins” and “fighting”.

Playa de Palma is covered by new tourism drinking laws – introduced in 2020- meaning that tourists at all-inclusives are limited to a certain amount of alcohol and new party boats are unable to acquire licences, however this doesn’t seem to be stemming tourist’s drunken antics.

Shops have to stop selling alcohol after a certain time and bars won’t be able to offer all-you-can-drink deals ,while holidaymakers at Thomas Cook resorts in affected areas are subject to a six drink maximum.

Holidaymakers could face heavy fines for breaking drinking laws in the Balearics, with penalties reaching up to €30,000, though this doesn’t seem to be curbing behaviour.
