Disney Consider Temperature Checks When Parks Reopen

Walt Disney Co. is considering carrying out temperature checks on all visitors who arrive at the parks when they reopen to the public following the COVID-19 closures

Management have acknowledged that this move will increase the time it takes to process and admit guests to the park as they already have various security checks already in place for the health and safety too those visiting the parks.

“Just as we now do bag checks for everybody that goes into our parks, it could be that at some point we add a component of that that takes people’s temperatures,” Disney executive chairman Bob Iger said in an interview with Barron’s.

“Let’s prepare for a world where our customers demand that we scrutinise everybody. Even if it creates a little bit of hardship, like it takes a little bit longer for people to get in,” he said.

All Disney parks still remain closed at this time indefinitely with the Shanghai, China park looking likely to reopen first, being the first country to be coming through the brighter side of the pandemic.

“In order to return to some semblance of normal, people will have to feel comfortable that they’re safe. Some of that could come in the form ultimately of a vaccine, but in the absence of that it could come from more scrutiny, more restrictions,” Iger added.
