Canary Island Volcano Eruption Could Last Three Months

Experts say that the volcanic eruption on the Canary Island of La Palma could last up to three months

Experts say that the volcanic eruption on the Canary Island of La Palma could last up to three months or 84 days.

The Canary Islands Volcanology Institute said it based its calculation on the length of previous eruptions on the archipelago.

The institute reported that Tuesday night saw a strong increase in the number of smaller eruptions while powerful rivers of lava, up to 20 feet high, have now reached the sea.

The total number of evacuated people now sits at around 6,000.
