Canada has made a historic decision which now sees its land border shared with a country other than America.

A land border now stands between Canada and Greenland, a district of Denmark.

Hans Island lies in the middle of the Kennedy Channel; ‘To the east of Canada and to the west of Greenland.

The two countries have reached an agreement in regards to ownership and control, which has led to the island being divided in half.

Both Canada and Denmark now control either side of Hans Island, with an international border now placed in the middle of the island.
