Australia Loosens Grip on Border Restrictions

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has today (22 November) announced that the country will ease covid border restrictions in the month of December

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has today (22 November) announced that the country will ease covid border restrictions in the month of December.

Borders will open to skilled and student visa holders, holidaymakers and humanitarians who are working, and provisional family visa holders, all of whom need to be fully vaccinated . The reopening will commence on 1 December and this will be the first time the country has allowed international visitors since March 2020

Along with full vaccination, entries will also be expected to hold a valid visa and present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure, but this will mean that the said groups will not be required to apply for a travel exemption.

Recently, Australia began easing restrictions around border measures by allowing vaccinated citizens, permanent residents and their families back into the country from 1 November, with the country now expected to continue opening for international travellers  going into the new year.
