1.3 Million Come Home from Abroad

1.3 million people are estimated to have returned to the UK amidst the COVID-19 outbreak

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has confirmed that in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, an estimated 1.3 million British people have returned home to the United Kingdom through commercial routes since the virus was first detected last November.

The figures show that 200,000 of the people recorded have come from Spain, 13,000 have returned from Egypt and 8,000 from Indonesia. In the last week, 1,600 people have returned from Pakistan, 1,000 have come from New Zealand and 500 from Poland and an estimated 4,000 more travellers are expected to return from India and South Africa in the coming week.
