Costa Rica

Bookings have been up 60% year on year with searches for Costa Rica Holidays increasing to 814% year on year.

One of the most biodiverse counties in the world, Costa Rica is THE destination for Brits to discover in 2020. It is a world leader in sustainable tourism and a place where at least a quarter of its natural habitat protected. It is also very accessible from the UK with direct flights into San Jose and Liberia.

TOP TIP – For wildlife spotting, look out for macaws, toucans, sloths, caimans, capuchins, sharks and whales.

Montenegro

Bookings have been up 20% year on year with searches increasing 39% year on year.

Montenegro is a small country but absolutely full of stunning nature. It has all the beauty and history of Croatia but is less-known so still very affordable, head there next year before everyone else discovers it!

TOP TIP – Head to the beautiful Ostrog Monastery which hugs a cliff-face above the Zeta Valley.

Sicily

Bookings have increased nearly 13%

Bookings have increased a ginormous 261% year on year

The home of The Waltz and next year marking Beethoven’s 250th Birthday, there has never been a better time to visit Vienna.

TOP TIP – To celebrate Beethoven’s birthday there will be major performances of his opera, Fidelio as well as the Beethoven Museum putting on extra events.

Sevilla

Bookings have increased 58% year on year

New York

Bookings have decreased 8%

Although there has been a decrease in bookings, New York was a place in which John Lennon loved and a haven for other artists and musicians. 2020 sadly marks the 40th anniversary of John Lennon’s Death, to remember him and celebrate his life, Greenwich Village, Dakota Building and the ApolloTheatr are great places to visit.

Lithuania

Bookings have increased 51% year on year

A country rich in folklore, language and landscape, we have noticed Lithuania shooting up the list of city break destinations. A country that is also trending as a foodie destination with hearty and tasty cuisines based on local produce and foraging.

TOP TIP – A classic dish is the Cepelinai, a large potato dumpling full of meat and served with sour cream and crispy bacon.

Portugal

Bookings have increased 50% year on year

Lisbon has long been a foodie destination for its fresh sardines and salt-cod dishes, however the food culture of Porto in the North and the Algarve in the South is something new to explore in 2020.

TOP TIP – Take a port cellar tour in Porto and head to the Algarve for birdwatching and water sports.

Mexico

Bookings have increased 41% year on year

The home of the fried bean dishes, guacamole, enchiladas and more, a holiday in Cancun or Riviera Maya is a paradise for foodies with a love of vibrant and creative mixes of culture.

Bookings have increased 49% in 2019 year on year

Japan is currently preparing to host visitors from around the world for the 2020 Olympics, held at Tokyo next July. Whilst it may prove difficult securing the golden tickets to the events, it’s still a great destination to head to soak up the sporting atmosphere.

TOP TIP – If you’re not heading for the Olympics, visit in Spring to see the Cherry Blossom at its best.

Fuerteventura

Bookings have gone up 45% year on year with searches increasing 89% year on year

Not traditionally the most popular choice of the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura holidays guarantee gorgeous sunny weather with miles of white sandy beaches without the crowds of the more popular Tenerife and Lanzarote.

TOP TIP – The long windswept stretches of coastline are perfect for both surfing and windsurfing, and for two weekends in July, the Windsurfing World Championships take place at Sotavento.

Hurghada

Bookings have increased 37% year on year

A culturally rich country, Egypt is the ideal destination for the beach holiday lovely, who also like to delve back into history. Hurghada has the regular beach and nightlife highlights… just with the pyramids.

TOP TIP – The uninhabited island of Giftun is just a short boat trip away where you can laze on white sans and snorkel amongst the colourful coral gardens.

Tel Aviv

Bookings to Israel have gone up 6% year on year

A mixture of culture, cosmopolitan and bohemian chic, Tel Aviv is perfect for lazing around at the beach in the day and socialising late into the evening. We are expecting to see a growing trend in 2020 with the new Virgin flights to Tel Aviv started in September.

TOP TIP – The White City, an iconic Bauhaus building is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Galway

Bookings have increased nearly 20%

Voted as the European Culture Capital of 2020, Galway is simply a must. The city is looking forward to a year of culture and creativity to encourage visitors with themes such as language, migration, landscape and more.
