Casa Elemento in Colombia has landed first place as the world’s most Instagrammable hostel, according to new research.

Casa Elemento beat the competition, with 10,851 posts under its Instagram hashtag. Located in Minca, Colombia, the photogenic hostel is situated on the mountainside, 1,200 metres above sea level. Its iconic giant hammock and tree house are the perfect spots to take snaps of the beautiful valley below.

Following in second place with 9,451 posts is Far Out Beach Club in Ios, Greece. Located on Mylopatas beach, the hostel offers guests the best of both worlds by being the perfect spot to relax whilst also having a range of amenities and entertainment such as restaurants, an outdoor cinema, live music and sports facilities.

With 8,668 tagged posts, Rondvassbu in Norway comes in third place. Rondvassbu is a lodge that can be found in Rondane National Park, making this hostel the perfect place to stay for outdoor explorers and hikers. As well as lakes and wildlife, the mountainous landscape is home to ten peaks, the highest being Rondeslottet at 2,178 metres.

UK hostels were noticeably absent in the rankings. Castle Rock Hostel in Edinburgh was the only UK hostel to make the top 30, with 2,444 posts under its Instagram hashtag.
