With lockdown easing and visitor attractions set to reopen, the team at The Ark Open Farm are excited to welcome everyone back to the farm to meet all the amazing animals and some of the new arrivals born throughout lockdown. What better way to get out into nature with your wee ones and enjoy some much-needed fresh air and space to roam.
Although things will look a little different in the short term, until further restrictions are lifted, there’s still plenty to explore on our beautiful 40-acre farm with 2km of pathways. The family run farm is nestled in the countryside between Newtownards and Bangor, an ideal environment to explore the great outdoors and get to know our friendly herds of cattle, sheep, pigs, and goats. Not forgetting some of our more exotic residents such as alpacas, reindeer, meerkats and mini-beasts.
We’ve also recently developed a magical fairy tale forest as well as a ROAR-some dinosaur themed exhibit. To add to your experience our interactive forest trail will keep the kids entertained as they hunt out some forest dwelling friends. There’s plenty of space for picnics and our café will be offering a take away menu filled with homemade delights!
Things didn’t stop at the farm, even during a global pandemic, and we’ve been delighted to share some amazing stories via our social channels. Our viewers have been able to see lambs being born, a baby goat born live on Facebook, piglets, baby bunnies and what life’s been like on farm lockdown. If you and your family are still stuck indoors or maybe you’re home schooling, you should check out our fun and educational content. We’ve also developed a Lockdown Farm Shop selling our amazing free range eggs alongside a whole host of yummy home baking including scones, tray bakes, pies and cakes
We’re busy working on our reopening plans, following all government guidance with the support of our local council, we hope to reopen on 3rd July. Check out our website for more information and to pre-book your tickets which will be essential until COVID restrictions are lifted further.
