In a new study conducted by travel experts amalfi-coast-tours.com, the most Instagrammable Italian road trip route has been identified. 

The findings are based on the total number of Instagram posts with hashtags for each stop among popular road trip routes highlighted on reputable travel sites, to determine how picturesque the average sight on each journey is.

As summer draws closer, Italy remains a top choice for European getaways. This study helps social media-savvy travellers in planning their Italian h based on where holds the most visual appeal – and where will make the perfect photo backdrop. 

Claiming the title for the road trip route with the most Instagram appeal is the five-day journey from Rome to Florence, with an average of 6,787,677 posts uploaded per stop along the route.

Coming in second is a Northern Italy route that takes travellers through the Veneto and Trentino regions of the country. This route boasts an average of 5,230,054 posts across all stops. 

The third most Instagrammable route is a Southern Italy and Sicily trip starting in Naples and ending in Palermo– 3,252,421 posts were created for each stop.

The road trip circling from Milan through Northwest Italy secures its place as the fourth most popular route on Instagram. It boasts an average of 3,068,671 posts per stop along the journey.

Ranking as the fifth most Instagrammable road trip route is one that travels through the Northern Italy Lakes- it boasts an average of 2,991,062 posts per stop.

Ranking in second to last position is a road trip that takes travellers from Ancona to Ascoli – a short five-day route that has an average of 234,61 posts per stop.
