Entry requirements

It is no longer mandatory to show a Green Pass to access restaurants, bars, and other indoor places.  This also applies to public transports, planes, trains, and ships. However, masks remain mandatory on all public transport, when entering Italy either by train, coach, or ferry and when in indoor public venues such as theatres, indoor sporting events and music clubs until 30th September.

FESTIVALS AND CULTURAL EVENTS

Collisioni Festival di Letteratura e Musica in collina  (Edition XIII)

Barolo, province of Cuneo; 1st to 31st July 2022

Collisioni, is an agrirock festival that for over a decade has been enlivening the Langhe with a playbill and a series of side events that would make the liveliest European capitals envious. It is a unique cultural experience. Not just about music and literature, Collisioni is a full- scale anthology of arts and intellectual performances where the audience always flocks in large numbers to experience the thrill of being part of a big community that for days gathers to listen to debates, concerts and enjoy gourmet food and wine breaks.

Videogames, art and beyond

Reggia di Venaria, Venaria Reale (province of Turin); 21st July to 22nd January 2023

An interactive exhibition will be held in the majestic spaces of the Reggia di Venaria, a Royal Residence UNESCO. Curated by Guido Curto and Fabio Viola, this will be the first major exhibition to consider video games as the “tenth form of art” practised by 3 billion people around the world, acknowledging the profound impact they have on contemporary society.

CALICI DI STELLE

Across Italy; 29th July –15th August

Enjoying a glass of wine under a boundless starry sky is coupled with the opportunity to visit cellars in organised tours around the nation. Evocatively promoting this beloved Italian product, a whole host of shows, intimate vineyard dinners, special tastings and concerts are also offered. This event coincides with the Perseids meteor shower, typically occurring on the Night of San Lorenzo on the 10th August with expert star-gazing activities available for visitors to delight in the phenomenon.

Sounds Of the Dolomites Festival

Trentino; 22nd August – 23rd September

The Sounds of the Dolomites will offer visitors the experience of the mountains whilst listening to mesmerising melodies and soaking up the rich culture of the region.

Visitors and performers will climb a selection of paths in the Dolomites to reach the settings for the sixteen concerts; most performances are held at midday when the sun is at its peak, however, some concerts are held at dawn and are called Dawn in the Dolomites (6 September) and the music starts when the sun peeps through the ethereal mountains.

The festival was initially created to showcase the beauty of Trentino and to immerse visitors in nature and music. All concerts are free of charge, except the experiences that are held indoors and include special trekking projects, which are three-day packages, during which musicians and participants accompanied by the Trentino Alpine Guides share daily journeys to the mountains and offer exclusive concerts.

FESTA DELL’UVA (The Grape Harvest Festival of Masera)

Masera, OssolaValley; September 2022

“Festa dell’Uva” is one of the oldest and most appreciated food festivals in Ossola Valley; dating back to 1925, it marked the end of the harvest period before the well-deserved winter break. Those exploring the festival can sample a wide range of traditional local delicacies and wines, whilst watching the spectacular firework display, the grand float parade, or the amazing donkey contest over the weekend.

MUSICA IN QUOTA

The peaks, mountain pastures and mountain lodges of high Piedmont are transformed into inimitable open-air stages for concerts and exciting performances: this is the winning recipe of Musica in Quota, the much-loved festival that, for its sixteenth edition, will offer a dozen appointments and all free of charge.

The Boat Show

Genoa; 22nd – 27th September 2022

Every year, in September, the ‘Salone Nautico’ (the International Boat Show) attracts thousands of the sector’s enthusiasts and technicians to Genoa, displaying more than a thousand boats at sea, including sailboats, outboard engines and rubber boats, powerboats and motoryachts, and offers a rich calendar of activities including conferences, round tables and off-site events. For the first time the fair will expand to the Old Port, involving new areas of the city.

Journey through ancient Rome

Archaeological area of the Imperial Fora, Rome; until 2nd October 2022

The extraordinary Journey through ancient Rome returns with two exciting multimedia nightly shows where guests can relive the history of the Forum of Augustus and the Forum of Caesar.

The narration will be combined with films and projections from the incredible historical and scientific rigor. The entire experience is an exciting adventure to discover these two evocative places as they were in ancient Rome.

An artist called Banksy

Palazzo delle Albere, Trento; until 9th October

The legendary and provocative street artist, Banksy, arrives to the city of Trento with the already famous exhibition “Un artista di nome Banksy” (“An artist called Banksy”). The collection includes a selection of paintings, screen prints, stencils, installations, and memorabilia.

Some of the artist’s most iconic works that are in display in Trento, are Love is in the Air (Flower Thrower), Love Rat, Bomb HuggerCND SoldiersGolf SaleBarcode and Toxic Mary/Virgin Mary.

Triennale di Milano

Milano; from July 15th to December 11th

One of the largest and most important international events dedicated to design and architecture addresses the theme of the unknown, questioning the mysteries of the known world. Under the title “Unknown Unknowns. An Introduction to Mysteries” of the 23rd Triennale Milano International Exhibition. This thematic exhibition shows over 100 works, projects and installations by international artists, researchers, and designers.

L.O.V.E. in Piazza Affari

L.O.V.E., better known in Milano as the Finger, is a sculpture by the Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan. Located at the centre of Piazza degli Affari, this amazing piece is a symbol of protest, right in front of Palazzo Mezzanotte, home to the Milanese stock exchange.

City Life Contemporary Art Park

ArtLine Milano is an open-air civic art project set at the public park in City Life – the district where you can see the famous skyscrapers by architects Zaha Hadid, Daniel Libeskind and Arata Isozaki. ArtLine exhibits over 20 permanent works by artists under 40.

Casa Galimberti

Designed by architect Giovanni Bossi, Casa Galimberti in via Malpighi (Porta Venezia area) is considered one of the most beautiful buildings of the celebrated Milanese Art Nouveau period. The external facade is adorned with striking majolica tiles, braided wrought iron and concrete floral motifs.

Ipogeo dei Cristallini

The opening of the Ipogeo dei Cristallini returns to the public, now with more strength to the recovery of its immense heritage of art, history, and culture. The Ipogeo dei Cristallini is a rare and incredible testimony of Hellenic painting and architecture, located in the heart of the Sanità-Vergini district. The four spaces of the Ipogeo reveal to visitors a world that is still alive, full of decorations and refined trompe l’oeil effects. Also on display is the rich collection of ancient artifacts and vases that has been magnificently preserved.
