10 Things to do in Northern Ireland

Here are ten exciting things taking place from 2 - 8 December

  1. Ulster Rugby -vs- Harlequins  – Belfast, 7 December.
    As well as live sporting entertainment, there is also a wide range of activities for fans of all ages to enjoy, from player signing sessions and live music performed by local artists to inflatable games and street performers. At the heart of the Fan Zone you’ll find a range of street food trucks where you can indulge in the best of local hospitality and visit one of seven sports bars.
  2. Victorian Christmas Event – Maghera, 5 – 12 December.
    Step back in time at Ardtara Country House this festive season where you’ll be greeted in the majestic hallway with a glass of mulled wine. Take a journey of Victorian opulence with a sumptuous three course Christmas dinner served in the stunning Clark Restaurant, before being entertained by our chamber ensemble and choir.
  3. Christmas at Castle Espie – Newtownards, 7 – 23rd December.
    Relax whilst the children make their own decorations to hang on your Christmas tree at home and take part in our special colouring in competition, before journeying through the Elves Workshop. Watch as Santa’s little helpers busily count down to Christmas, but come prepared, as they may need your help to be ready for the best day of the year.
  4.  Magical Christmas at Castle Coole – Enniskillen, 7 – 17th December.
    Castle Coole will be home to Santa and Mrs Claus on the 7th & 8th December and from the 12th-17th December as they prepare for the busy Christmas season. They will be welcoming children into their magical Christmas home – the perfect way to get into the festive spirit. Grown-ups can enjoy a warming mulled punch and a homemade mince pie from the kitchen range as the children meet Santa and Mrs Claus.
  5. Ladies Night Goes to the Movies Elf – Belfast, 3 December.
    Get together with the girls this festive season and enjoy a main Course, glass of wine, mini dessert buffet at Fratelli Ristorante, Pizzeria & Bar in Belfast followed by a private screening of Elf, one of the top favourite festive movies for only £25 per person.
  6. Love Actually in Concert – Belfast, 5 December.
    Love Actually, the seasonal romcom that has become a revelation and is synonymous for so many with the festive period, will tour to Ireland and the UK this December with a full orchestra performing its soundtrack live to picture, in what is becoming an annual highlight of the holiday calendar for many.
  7. Yuletide Ritual Reflection Renewal – Armagh, 6 December.
    Experience a peaceful mid winter’s evening with the Celts during this period of ritual, reflection and renewal. Listen to stories and learn of Yuletide traditions, including the importance of the Druids’ Herb, mistletoe. You will be invited to place your own Yule decoration on our tree, representing yuletide memories of the past and wishes for the future.
  8. Old Inn Copeland Gin Night – Bangor, 7 December.                                                                                                                                                  This Christmas, Join us for a fantastic evening of Gin & Food hosted by Copeland Gin experts at the Old Inn. Enjoy a four course tasting menu which has been expertly paired with delicious Gin cocktails, provided by Copeland Gin Distillery.
  9. Richard Haywards, – East-Antrim Larne, 6 December.
    In this talk Paul Clements, travel writer, broadcaster and former BBC journalist, will focus on the significance of this area of Richard Hayward’s work and how he helped to promote tourism in County Antrim in the middle decades of the 20th century. This talk forms part of the programme around ‘Richard Hayward’s East Antrim’, an exhibition looking at the life of Richard Hayward which is on display until Tuesday 31st December.
  10. Larchfield Estate Christmas Wreath Workshop  – Lisburn, 4 December.
    If you fancy getting crafty and embracing the festive spirit, why not come along to Larchfield Estate’s wreath workshop. In collaboration with the amazing ‘Willow and the Ivy Floral Designs’, you will create your own festive wreath, in the cosy surroundings of ‘The Old Piggery’ in the heart of the estate. The open fire will be roaring, and festive refreshments will be flowing!
