Icelandair will begin operating from George Best Belfast City Airport (BHD) to Reykjavik Iceland starting on June 1, 2017.

Three Million UK Travellers Sunburnt on Ski Slopes

New research reveals that millions of UK travellers fail to realise the risk of sun on the slopes and its harmful effects, with an estimated three million holidaymakers getting sunburn in winter resorts in the last five years.

A further one in four winter holidaymakers (19 per cent) knows a friend or family member that has been sunburnt on the slopes.

Hastings Reports Big Increase in Visitors from Republic

Hastings Hotels has announced an increase in its accommodation bookings from the Republic of approximately 155 per cent per month over October and November 2016 against the same period in 2015.

Julie Hastings, Marketing Director for Hastings Hotels said: "We are delighted to see a remarkable increase in bookings from the Republic of Ireland on this time last year. In recent years, the weak Euro meant we certainly noticed a decrease in our bookings from the ROI.

ABTA is launching a nationwide campaign in the New Year aimed at consumers in response to the growing issue of fraudulent websites, online scams and non-compliant travel companies that have no financial protection in place.

The advertising will promote ABTA's 'Travel with confidence' message and encourage consumers to book with an ABTA Member during the busiest holiday sales period of the year.

Airline to Charge Extra for Use of Overhead Bins

United Airlines, one of the world's largest carriers, is facing criticism over plans to charge passengers extra for the use of overhead lockers.

The airline, which announced it will end its Belfast to New York, Newark service in January, will introduce a new "basic economy" fare in 2017.
