Free Health Care in Europe Will Continue After Brexit - Pledge

British tourists have been reassured by Brexit Secretary David Davis that travellers in the European Union will continue to get free healthcare after the UK formally leaves the EU.

The Brexit Secretary said he will seek a continuation of the existing European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) system in forthcoming negotiations, and vowed to offer EU citizens free access to the NHS in return.

Sterling Strengthens in Time for Peak Summer Season

Things are looking up for UK holidaymakers with the pound sterling strengthening against both the USD and the Euro in the last few days.

Travellers are enjoying better exchange rates against the dollar and the Euro than for some weeks as we begin the peak holiday season.

The two new Norwegian services to the US, to New York and Boston, are up and running.

Explorer's Famous Ship Re-Opens to the Public

Scott's famous Antarctic exploration ship RRS Discovery in Dundee is opening again to the public this Saturday, July 8 after an intensive refurbishment programme to its masts and rigging.

The famous vessel that carried Robert Falcon Scott and Ernest Shackleton to the Antarctic, now an award-winning visitor attraction, is shipshape once more after repairs that will preserve the vessel again for future generations.

Second Reading for New Bill on Consumer Protection

A Bill to give holidaymakers more protection if a travel company goes out of business was debated in the House of Commons this week when it got its second reading.

The Government is promising that from next year, holidaymakers who book trips online will get new protection so they are not left stranded abroad or lose money.

Schiphol Overtakes Heathrow as Europe's Largest Airport

Amsterdam's Schiphol has overtaken Heathrow as Europe's largest airport for direct flights, having risen from sixth place in the last 10 years, according to the Airports Council International (ACI) Europe.

It put the reason for its growth partly down to the rise of low-cost carriers, which now make up a fifth of Schiphol's direct flights. Heathrow's growth, on the other hand, has been constrained by a lack of capacity.
