In the middle of the pandemic, August 2020, Craig Davidson and Kelly Freeth launched Flexi Reps. The concept was simple, a “Boots on the Ground” flexible temping agency for global travel brands to get their messages out to travel agents in a cost-effective way without the burden of fixed costs. Essentially hiring people for short term projects.
The initial plan was developed to retain as many of the UK’s field sales teams that agents have grown to love over many years, sadly many of these lost their jobs early in the pandemic as high streets closed and many travel agents hibernated. As companies re-sized and preserved cash to survive through the lockdown Craig always felt that on the other side his idea would flourish. Little could he know that six months on the high street would still be shut….for now!
This did not deter Craig who set about looking for other ways to generate cash for his fledgling business. The initial idea will still be big as we emerge from the pandemic, but due to lockdowns, Flexi Reps now have many other strings to their bow. These included consultancy, GSA (General Sales Agent), events and street teams of travel people to raise consumer awareness. Their newly designed logo reflects the new offering.
Picking up several customers and partnership over the course of the last six months, with many new signings to follow. Flexi Reps now represents businesses from various sectors in the travel Industry, all wanting to work closer with travel agents and tour operators in the UK & Ireland and all believe travel agent and trade business will increase once the travel Corridors are announced.
Brands such as Obeo Travel an Iceland and Namibia DMC and Fastpayhotels a B2B Accommodation provider have entrusted their brands with Flexi Reps to open doors in the UK and both have been delighted with the service we have offered.
From a “Boots on the Ground” perspective we have Reps out and about for quite a few Brands, Spring Hotels have a 2nd Campaign after the success of their previous visits to Agents in between lockdowns last year will get their messages out to Agents from the 12th April into May. Riviera Travel will get messages delivered to Agents in Northern Ireland / Ireland and many others are in active conversations to tap into the flexible teams.
In addition Craig has been busy with consultancy projects in the tailor-made and high-end luxury travel and wedding & honeymoon sectors. Additionally partnerships with OTT, Travel Gossip & Gail Kenny Recruitment have also emerged, all with the goal of educating and helping people back into full time roles in the Industry.
From Jet2 to Flexi Reps Craig is constantly thinking of the next angle and partnership and has never been busier. With lots of campaigns coming up Craig is confident that he’s onto something with Flexi Reps and is excited about 2021.
