The regulator will be a part of the Transportation Research Board’s work in enabling innovation in aviation.
Rob Stallard, Safety Strategy Specialist at the UK Civil Aviation Authority, received the invitation to be one of the members following engagement at the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting in January in Washington DC. The Transportation Research Board provides leadership in transportation improvements and innovation through information exchange, research, and advice on all forms of transportation. The aviation programme aims to improve research needed to commission work, with the UK Civil Aviation Authority already having several suggestions accepted. As part of the work, the UK Civil Aviation Authority is also advising the Board on how the regulator is linking horizon scanning activities into various safety requirements and long-term planning for future flight capabilities.
