TUI Donate £25,000 to Help Thomas Cook Staff

ABTA LifeLine rallies support to help Thomas Cook staff following collapse

To help with the aftermath of the Thomas Cook Collapse, Tui have donated £25,000 to ABTA Lifeline, a charity in support of members within the travel industry who are struggling.

At the ABTA Travel Convention in Tokyo, ABTA LifeLine Chair Person Derek jones addressed the audience on the matter:

“Some were single parents, in some instances both in the couple worked at Thomas Cook.

“Some were on maternity leave, some were, or on sick leave. Some were supporting sick members of their family. Some of them had over 40 years’ service working for a company they loved.

“The failure for many loyal, hard-working travel professionals has been devastating.”

LifeLine have provided emergency support by those effected by providing financial assistance and food vouchers to those who are most in need.

Kuoni have donated a further £5,000, and Mid-counties Co-op and Classic collection have pledged to donate £1 per employee.

“This appeal is directed to all you MDs, CEOs and business owners,” said Derek Jones.

“Please support our appeal by donating whatever you can. £1 per employee is not a lot to ask and it all adds up.

Anyone who would like to pledge their support are advised to contact ABTA.
