This year’s charity ballot at the Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards, in association with Blue Insurance raised an amazing total of £3,000 for local charity AWARE.

AWARE is the depression charity for Northern Ireland – and the only charity working exclusively for people with depression and bipolar disorder.

AWARE has an established network of 25 support groups in rural and urban areas across the country, which are run by our trained volunteers. Support groups welcome people with depression and bipolar as well as carers for people with the illness. They also deliver Information Outreach sessions and attend local community events to give more information about AWARE and their services.

The charity deliver mental health and well-being programmes into communities, schools, colleges, universities and workplaces. These programmes include a suite of Mood Matters programmes, Living Life to the Full, Mental Health First Aid and Mindfulness.

The rely on the dedicated and caring volunteers who run the support groups, many of whom began as service users themselves and as such are an excellent asset to the charity.
