Global tourism industry visionary, entrepreneur and philanthropist Stanley S. Tollman, Founder and Chairman of The Travel Corporation (TTC), has died at the age of 91 following a battle with cancer.
Tollman created and presided over the highly successful international travel group which encompasses more than 40 award-winning brands including Trafalgar, Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, Insight Vacations, Contiki Holidays and Red Carnation Hotels, as well as pioneering TTC’s sustainable travel efforts through its not-for-profit TreadRight
Stanley Tollman and his commitment to the travel industry in Northern Ireland:
TTC’s most recent global conference was held in Belfast in August 2019, bringing together over 300 colleagues from around the world in Northern Ireland for a four-day meeting and immersion into Northern Ireland’s beauty, culture and warm welcome.
As well as the business agenda, which was conducted across three fantastic hotels in Belfast city centre, the programme included visiting landmarks and attractions across Belfast and gala events at some of the city’s most prestigious venues such as Belfast City Hall, St Anne’s Cathedral Belfast and Titanic Belfast. It also included a very special dining experience at the home of Lord and Lady Dunleath at Ballywater
On the opening night of the conference, Belfast’s City Hall was lit up in red in honour of Trafalgar, one of TTC’s most prestigious and strategically important brands.
Mr Tollman and his wife Beatrice were present during the conferences including at the final gala event held at the Titanic Belfast, sitting alongside senior dignitaries from Northern Ireland’s tourism industry including Tourism NI CEO John McGrillen and Tourism NI Chairman Terence Brannigan.
Following the conference, TTC’s bookings (pre-pandemic) to Northern Ireland across its core brands increased by 30%.
