Save the Date! National Travel Agent Day Declared an Annual Event

Intrepid Travel has pledged to make National Travel Agent Day UK & Ireland an annual fixture

Intrepid Travel has pledged to make National Travel Agent Day UK & Ireland an annual fixture after the overwhelming success of last Friday’s inaugural event.

Companies from across the industry, including cruise lines, tourist boards and tour operators came together to show their appreciation for travel agents. Industry bodies Abta and CLIA also got involved, sending video messages of support to the trade.

Agents took part in a host of activities and competitions. Hays Travel agent Aaron Petty won a place on Intrepid’s new Morocco Retreat after several of his colleagues nominated him for giving outstanding support to customers during the pandemic as well helping to care for his foster siblings.

Intrepid’s EMEA Managing Director Zina Bencheikh said: “I was overwhelmed with the positive response to the first National Travel Agent Day in the UK. After such a tough few months, agents told us the day gave them a real morale boost and a positive message to share with their clients.  We already have lots of ideas of how we can make next year’s National Travel Agent Day even bigger and better!”

The celebrations were hosted on the Travel Gossip Facebook page, with afternoon events on the Intrepid Loves Agents page. Bruce Martin from Travel Gossip said the day resulted in one of the busiest ever days on the site.

He said: “We were delighted to host part of National Travel Agent Day in Travel Gossip. It was one of the busiest days in the group’s history, with over 200 posts, 2000+ comments and 4,000+ reactions in one day. Combined activity reach was more than 18,000 group members.

“It was amazing to see such positivity from all corners of the travel industry. Thanks to everyone for taking part and hats off to Intrepid Travel for making the day happen.”

Next year’s event will take place on July 23 2021. Join the Intrepid Loves Agents group on Facebook for more updates.
