It was with great sadness that Northern Ireland Travel News heard of the passing of industry pioneer Jim (Jimmy) Murphy last Friday (November 18). His firsts for Trans-Atlantic travel from Northern Ireland are legendary and he was one of the local travel industries best known characters.

As the founder of Ulster Maple Leaf Travel he made it possible for thousands of local people to travel to all parts of North America for the first time. He was also an avid golfer and past Captain of Canalea Golf Club, in the area he called home.

His funeral will take place on Wednesday 23rd November at 2.00 pm – S.Clarke and Son, Funeral Directors, 64 Newtownards Road Bangor.

Our Thoughts are with his wife Maureen, children Stephen, Lorraine and the family circle.
