João Fernandes, President of Algarve Tourism, has reiterated his commitment to the Northern Ireland Travel Trade regarding the holiday season in Algarve this year.

He said: “Our Northern Ireland trade partners are very important to us and we have been working with some of them during the pandemic to keep our presence and awareness up. Now we are preparing for summer with some marketing campaigns with major airlines and tour operators to relaunch activity as soon as restrictions are lifted. New from June will be Ryanair daily flights from Belfast City Airport to Faro for the first time.

“Irish visitors can expect to find that everything is open in the Algarve with safety and sanitary measures in place. Our ‘Clean & Safe’ campaign which outlines safe operating procedures has been widely taken up by tourism businesses from restaurants to car hire. There will be no quarantine on arrival.

“We have some exciting new hotels opening this year including the W Algarve, new activities such as The Winemaker Experience at Quinta dos Vales vineyard estate, as well as new sustainable accommodation options and activities that includes solar powered boat tours.”
