PALLADIUM HOTEL GROUP LAUNCHES NEW GLOBAL CSR COMMITMENT, ‘PALLADIUM CARES’

Palladium Cares has been created to reinforce the hotel group's projects in Europe and the Americas, through a collaborative strategy working with local NGOs and Professional Training Centres

Palladium Hotel Group presents Palladium Cares, an initiative that encompasses all of the group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects at a global level. The comprehensive strategy will enhance Palladium Hotel Group’s existing role in creating positive change within society. Three distinct areas of strategic action are focused on creating a meaningful impact, both internally and externally, and furthering the group’s commitment to social responsibility.

Firstly, the internal social responsibility vertical ,”OUR PEOPLE”, will bring together actions aimed at improving the lives of Palladium Hotel Group’s 13,000 employees. Secondly, the external social responsibility vertical, “OUR COMMUNITY”, will work on progressing two major projects in Europe and the Americas, to have a real positive impact on the communities where the group operates. Lastly, the environmental responsibility vertical, “OUR PLANET”, introduces new policies as well as continuing existing ones.

According to Jesús Sobrino, CEO of Palladium Hotel Group, “Palladium Cares was born with the aim of consolidating the company’s historic commitment to CSR, giving continuity to existing projects, strengthening them and promoting new ones. We focus, in the first place, on our internal team, to continue to have a positive impact, in parallel, on our communities and the surroundings. We believe that social work cultivates and strengthens our spirit and bond with our collaborators”.

“OUR PEOPLE”, the central focus of Palladium Cares

Multiple initiatives have been integrated to enhance the wellbeing of employees and their families. In order to achieve this, Palladium Hotel Group has conducted a thorough analysis, actively involving employees in the decision-making process. As a result, 98 new initiatives have been identified and are currently being implemented. These measures encompass various areas such as leisure activities, wellness programmes, accommodation, and employee transfers, among others. To demonstrate the company’s dedication to these projects and ensure effective implementation, Palladium Hotel Group has established CSR councils in each of its hotels. These councils consist of employees who meet regularly with the company’s CSR department to assess and implement continuous improvements in line with the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.

“At Palladium Hotel Group, we are strongly committed to our employees. We know that our people are at the core of our company and we must demonstrate this by giving them all the support they need, both materially and in the development of their careers,” says Gloria Juste, Corporate Director of Social Responsibility at Palladium Hotel Group.

“OUR COMMUNITY”, in support and appreciation of the communities where Palladium Hotel Group operates

The second focus area revolves around local communities. Notably, two significant projects are underway in Europe and the Americas, providing support and making a positive impact in the destinations where Palladium Hotel Group operates as a token of appreciation.

In the Americas, Palladium Hotel Group has begun establishing Professional Training Centres in collaboration with local public entities. These centres, initially In Brazil, Mexico and Jamaica, will provide opportunities for professional training and education, benefitting individuals in the various destinations where the hotel group operates. By offering these training programmes, Palladium Hotel Group aims to facilitate access to the job markets, as the group believes that the most effective form of social assistance is through employment.

In Europe, a new “4 causes to take action” project will be carried out in four phases over the course of the year. This project is centred around four specific causes: childhood, inequality, the environment, and care for the elderly. Each of the group’s hotels in Europe will partner with local NGOs to amplify the impact of their initiatives.

“Through internal action plans, we will improve the quality of life of our employees, while through our collaborative campaigns with external bodies, we will leave a positive footprint in the communities in which we operate globally”, says Gloria Juste.

“OUR PLANET”, protecting people through showing responsibility towards the planet

Throughout Palladium Hotel Group’s history, it has actively promoted environmental protection measures in order to mitigate the impact of its tourism operations. With the introduction of Palladium Cares, the company is further enhancing these efforts on a global scale. Key areas of action within this plan include the reduction of plastic, sustainable use of natural resources such as water, proper waste management and reduction, and the protection of biodiversity. The plan will be refined and continuously improved through audits to evaluate the effectiveness of these measures.

New projects being launched by Palladium Hotel Group include an Agricultural Production Centre in Brazil – an agrotourism initiative where employees and guests will be able to broaden their environmental and local cultural knowledge through educational courses – and a Fish Sanctuary in Jamaica in collaboration with UNWTO and the Lucea Fishermen’s Association.
