Nick Hughes Takes on Role of TIPTO Chairman

TIPTO has appointed Nick Hughes to the role of Chairman with effect from 01 September 2019

Nick Hughes is taking the reins at TIPTO just in time to kick start the trade association’s 21st year. Hughes is well known within the industry and brings with him a wealth of experience having held several high profile roles.

With a proven track record in sales, marketing and commercial leadership, Hughes is highly respected by industry peers and boasts more than 25 years of experience within various big brand roles. Having worked with the likes of Attraction World, Affordable Car Hire, JTA Travel Management, Bourne Leisure and Holiday Autos to name but a few, Hughes currently holds the position of Sales Director at Gold Medal/Travel2 and brought the brand back into TIPTO membership last year.

Hughes has always held a strong connection with TIPTO having first been involved with the association in the year 2000, just a year after its inception, and working under previous Chairmen including John Harding (Travelscene) and Ian Mounser (Superbreak).

Hughes said: “Taking on the role of TIPTO Chairman is an honour and I’m delighted to have been voted in by current members. We have just celebrated TIPTO’s 20th year, which has been its most successful to date, so I hope to utilise my industry experience to start where Jane leaves off and support the leadership team in driving TIPTO forward.”

Hughes’ appointment comes after current Chair Jane Atkins’ decision to step down following a successful three-year tenure which saw TIPTO grow in both membership numbers and agent reach. Atkins comments: “I’m delighted to be handing the TIPTO reins to someone so well liked and respected within the industry. Nick’s vast experience will bring a great dynamic to TIPTO and I know his supportive nature will work well with the leadership team to take TIPTO to the next level.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Chair, it’s a challenge I’ve relished for the past three years and I’m confident this new leadership can only mean great things for TIPTO in the years to come.”
