Holiday Dreaming with the Local Travel Trade

Part 1 of our series featuring the local travel trade detailing where is top of their holiday wishlist

With holiday plans and travel being off the table due to current restrictions, we look ahead to better times – and in the first part of a series, we ask some key members of the local travel industry where is top of their own holiday wishlist ….

Jill Russell (Topflight) – Without a doubt, my all-time favourite is the stunningly beautiful MALCESINE, Lake Garda! This beautiful resort on the north of the lake has everything from skiing on Monte Baldo in winter to amazing lakeside restaurants in sunshine throughout the summer. Once you go you’ll know!

Tracie Duffy (Crumlin Travel) – If there was a flight going to “Destination Anywhere” I’d definitely be the 1st on it! But what I’m missing & craving for the most is to go Skiing… so gutted to be missing this year’s ski season in the snowy mountains of Pamporovo just love the freedom you feel & the scenery is just magical – it would definitely wipe away those “Covid Blues”  & of course not forgetting the “Apres ski” a few Hot Chocolates & Bailey’s in ALEX’S & then it all down hill from here in DAKS bar! (for those that have been – you know what I mean!!!)

Paula McAreavey (NI Travel News) – Top of my holiday wishlist has to be Santa Ponsa… with my family, short flight so we get there quicker, sunshine, a beautiful beach and all-inclusive cocktails. One for each hand. That is all!

Edel Doherty (Beyond Business) – My No1 place to visit is Australia:  To visit my son who lives in Adelaide. The pandemic has restricted travel plans and contained my curiosity to visit as many countries as possible but what I realised was my number one reason to travel is to spend time with loved ones, I miss them so much.  My son in Adelaide, my sister in San Francisco, travel enables us to firstly connect with the people we love and then to other cultures.  Let’s hope travel returns sooner than later!

William Elliott (Elite Travel NI) – Peru and a Trek of the Inca Trail, a once in a life time trip to the forgotten City Machu Picchu, and grasp the breath taking scenery!! ever since I was a teenager it’s always been on my bucket list and someday soon I will make this trip!! Also there is a fantastic restaurant in Cusco that serves tasty local cusine (so client has informed me)!!!

Terence Murphy (Terra Travel) – Top of my list is Cambodia, was fortunate enough to tour Vietnam 2 years ago and loved it so would love to continue into Cambodia. I love the whole history, culture and most of all the food.

Michaela Johnston (L&J World Travel) – Id go ANYWHERE right now, but I cant wait to get back to Nashville USA. I was lucky enough to be there in 2019 and caught the bug for line dancing – i’ve taken about a dozen classes and am absolutely busting to get back to Music City USA to strut some moves yeehaa!!

Kirsty Johnston (NI Travel News) – Number one on my holiday wish list is a cruise! I have said for years “oh, I’ll have to book a cruise thie year” but just never seemed to get round to it. Now that the option has been taken away due to the global travel restrictions it seems to be the only thing on my mind! So the first thing I’m going to do when the restrictions ease is book a Norwegian Fjords cruise. I visited Norway a number of years ago and it was just one of the most stunning places I’ve ever been. I’d love to go back with my husband and experience it together.
