With holiday plans and travel being off the table due to current restrictions, we look ahead to better times – and in the final part of the series, we ask some key members of the local travel industry where is top of their own holiday wishlist ….
Collen Matovu (Travel Counsellors) – Easy one for me … Maldives ! Always wanted to go – was meant to last year for my 40th – that didn’t happen obviously. So once I can – Maldives with my friend for a girly getaway from all things homeschooling & Covid!
Gillian McVeigh (Limavady Travel) – Borneo is top of my list. I’m a real animal lover, and Borneo boasts some of the world’s most unusual wildlife, including Orangutans, proboscis monkeys & western tarsiers. Then there’s the rainforest treks, and the amazing caves to explore, I’m not one to lie at the beach – give me adventure any day!
Peter McMinn (Travel Solutions) – Travel restrictions imposed on us over the past ten months has certainty heightened my desire to travel more when we are allowed. I have two trips that I have been promising myself for many years now, and have failed for many reasons to take them. India holds a fascination for me and love watching programmes on television that profile the country – this is now number one holiday to book. My second trip is to travel by train from London to Istanbul – nothing as fancy as The Orient Express, but using normal train services and stopping off en-route. Anyone know a good travel company that could book these for me?
Marie Murphy (Terra Travel) – Cuba. Was due to go to Havana and Varadero last November. Obviously I didn’t get to go. Hopefully next year though!
Nicola McCafferty (Downe Travel) – Easy-peasy, has to be Belek, Turkey! My fave holiday destination, easy to get to from Belfast, all year sunshine, great service, excellent entertainment and perfect for couples and families! Am booked for August and cant wait to get back!!
Heather Fielding (Gallagher Travel) – I would not be fussy about where I go to – just want to feel that blast of heat that hits you when you stand at the top of the stairs to leave the plane! I have missed getting away with my daughter on our girls trips so we are keen to get a break to New York!
Sandra Corkin (Oasis Travel) – Banyon Tree, Phuket – looking for somewhere to recharge!
Jordan McCluskey (NI Travel News) – The USA. I’m not even going to be specific – anywhere would do! Last year was only the second time since 1999 that I haven’t been there at least once in the year, so I’m pining for the likes of Miami, Nashville, etc a LOT!
