Holiday Dreaming with the Local Travel Trade

Part 2 of our series featuring the local travel trade detailing where is top of their holiday wishlist

With holiday plans and travel being off the table due to current restrictions, we look ahead to better times – and in the second part of a series, we ask some key members of the local travel industry where is top of their own holiday wishlist ….

Trevor Ardies (Rosetta Travel) – We were unable to travel for most of 2019 and planned several treats for 2020 as part of that recovery. As that wasn’t to be, we’re twice as eager to get away. I’ve a big birthday in the autumn, so we’re going for comfort, excitement, indulgence and warm weather. It’s going to be a USA two centre, San Francisco and Las Vegas.  Can’t wait!

Richard Cooper (Carefree Travel) – Portnoo , Co Donegal – Peace, Scenery, Guinness, Wild Swimming, Worlds best Beaches, Hidden Gem, accessibility !!

Chandra Rowan (Feherty Travel) – I can’t wait to travel again and I will be so excited once travel is open again. I have so many dream destinations that I want to go to, or return to, it is hard to name just one. I am really looking forward to travelling back to California later this year. With its wonderful cities, glorious landscapes and north/south divide, coupled with beautiful beaches and coastline, it is hard to beat! From the wineries and national parks in the North, to the themes parks and beaches that go on for miles in the South, California has everything to offer. I love the restaurant culture paired with Californian wines, the celebrity excitement and of course don’t forget the fabulous shopping. And finishing off with the all-year round weather! It’s always a good time to travel to California USA!

Jonathan Adair (NI Travel News) – The Canaries. I want to get ALL the family away in a lovely villa setting, all of us together after the last 12 months. Sand in between my toes, swimming in the ocean and grilled garlic prawns by the pool every evening – absolute heaven.

Dawn Kelly (JF Travel) – Top of my holiday wishlist is going to have to be kept really simple …. all I want are sun, pool and cocktails. So.. that could be anywhere really, but I’ll go with my ultimate favourite place with the best chilled vibe ever! It has to be Ibiza!!

Hazel Simpson (Limavady Travel) – I would like to be sitting on a Sunset Veranda on Celebrity Silhouette sipping a glass of prosecco watching everything as we pull out of port. Some of the best ports  I have ever sailed away from , Catania in Sicily with Mount Etna erupting in the back ground.  Valletta in Malta with the Ship doing a 180 degree turn in the middle of the grand harbour. Going through the Panama canal locks. Venice sailing past St Mark’s Square, Stockholm , Kotor, Split  all fabulous – do you get the impression I really miss cruising?!

Brendan Mallon (Oasis Travel) – I’d have to pick Lake Garda.  We were meant to go in August 2020 and had to rearrange for 2021, so not only is it a destination we love but the next time going will feel like one that’s been long overdue for the whole family.  Great weather, beautiful scenery, lovely people and amazing food/wine – what’s not to look forward to!’
