Hays Travel Wins Prestigious Award for Learning and Development

Hays Travel has won the Award for Learning and Development at the Investors in People Awards 2022

Hays Travel has won the Award for Learning and Development at the Investors in People Awards 2022.

The Award for Learning and Development recognises organisations that have developed a learning and development strategy that is having a hugely positive impact on the business and it’s people.

The UK’s Largest Independent Travel agent was shortlisted amongst businesses such as PwC and the National Bank of Bahrain but came out on top last night at the black-tie awards ceremony in Old Billingsgate, London.

The Investors in People Awards celebrate the very best organisations from around the world, across various organisational, people, wellbeing and leadership categories. Each year hundreds of organisations from the UK and abroad battle it out to take home one of the sought after trophies to show their award-winning commitment to #MakeWorkBetter.

The award was accepted by Head of Learning and Development Angela Riseam-Smith who joined Hays Travel as an apprentice in 2001. Angela accredits her success to the training she received from the Learning and Development team.

Angela was joined by Senior Learning & Development Manager Beverley Little, Elizabeth Whitcombe, Learning and Development Manager and Retail and Training Director Jane Schumm.

Dame Irene Hays, owner and executive chair of Hays Travel said, “It is impossible to overestimate how successfully our learning and development team adapted to the acquisition of Thomas Cook, to Covid, and to the introduction of business processing services. The company would not be in the strong position it is today without them. They are remarkable.”

Paul Devoy, CEO, Investors in People, said “The Investors in People Awards 2022 marks a new chapter for us. We came together again after three years in our biggest celebration of exemplary leaders and organisations who have transformed themselves into a force of good despite the challenges. I am proud of every organisation that entered this year, demonstrating the value in making work better and setting an example for other organisations to do the same.”
