G Adventures Boosts UK Sales Team With New Global Purpose Specialist

G Adventures is delighted to announce the growth of their outside sales team following the appointment of Tom Buck as Global Purpose Specialist

G Adventures is delighted to announce the growth of their outside sales team following the appointment of Tom Buck as Global Purpose Specialist (GPS) this month. Based in London, Tom’s internal appointment comes following an increase in demand for in-person events and training, especially from partners based in the Capital.

Having entered the travel industry as a sales consultant at TUI, Tom joined G Adventures as a Global Connection Officer in the global adventure operator’s ‘Boombox’ (contact centre) in 2017. His passion for adventure and superb customer service saw him transfer to the Private Groups division in 2018, where he helped to connect groups of travellers with their adventure of a lifetime. With a passion for nurturing relationships with repeat customers and agents booking group departures, Tom was attracted to the GPS role, which focuses heavily on building and maintaining connections with existing and new agents.

“Tom’s drive, passion and agency support skills, which he has demonstrated during his time at G Adventures has shone through during his time in the groups department and makes him a fantastic fit for the new GPS role. His passion for people, existing trade relationships and extensive knowledge of the G Adventures brand will allow him to hit the ground running,” says Stu Darnley, national sales manager at G Adventures.

“Covering London, the South East and as far north as Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, Tom will be out on the road spending as much time face-to-face with agents as possible and helping to guide them through the exciting world of adventure, offering insights and support into marketing, product and sales. We’re seeing a huge increase in in-person requests from agents and we’re excited to have another set of boots on the ground to ensure we’re delivering that face to face support to our partners,” Darnley continues.

After travelling South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand for four years, the travel bug led Tom to the travel industry and he was drawn to G Adventures for its sustainable tourism practices.

“During my time travelling, I saw first hand the impact that travel can have on the planet and its people. Being part of an organisation which has community tourism at the heart of all that we do is incredibly inspiring. I have worked closely with the GPS team around the world for a number of years and I’m excited to share my passion for adventure and responsible travel with our agents,” Tom said.
