COVID-19: Seabourn to Protect Agent’s Base Commission

Seabourn has said it is committed to protecting agent base commission levels through 2020 and 2021

In a message to the UK travel trade, Chris Austin, Senior Vice-President, Global Marketing and Sales, said the cruise line recognised “the impact that the uncertainty and circumstances have had on your business”, adding that it wanted to “respond in a way that reinforces our support of the travel advisor community”.

“We’re pleased to extend your 2020 base commission level forward through 2021, recognising that this year has been unlike any you have faced in the past. This action is one way we can help stabilise your long-term planning for the coming year. Our optimism and insight says business will grow and bookings will return once again in the future,” said Austin.

UK and Ireland Managing Director Lynn Narraway also thanked agents for their “incredible support and resilience” during the coronavirus crisis.

“We know that commission is critical to your business and hope that by carrying your current 2020 base commission rate through into 2021 will help you with your marketing plans,” she said.

Seabourn has extended its Book With Confidence policy until 31 August 2020, allowing guests booked on 2020 cruises to cancel and receive 100% future cruise credit of any monies paid to Seabourn and within cancellation fees.
