COVID-19: More Than 720 Jets Parked at UK Airports

Cirium says that there are more than 720 jets currently parked at UK Airports

According to a report by Cirium, as of May 4, 2020 more than 720 aircraft are recorded as currently parked at UK airports.

The data and analytics expert are tracking popular storage locations for all passenger jets grounded around the world during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A snapshot of the situation per data as of Monday, May 4, 2020 reveals 78%* of the more than 720 aircraft currently in storage in the UK are located in the following top ten airports:

  1. Gatwick – 16.62%
  2. Stansted – 11.95%
  3. Heathrow – 11.26%
  4. Manchester – 11.26%
  5. Bournemouth – 6.47%
  6. Luton – 5.49%
  7. Norwich – 5.49%
  8. Birmingham – 3.43%
  9. Southend – 3.43%
  10. Bristol – 3.02%

(*the remaining 22% are stored at 19 additional UK airports)

Cirium has also revealed that the global in-service passenger jet fleet has grown by nearly 170 since yesterday (May 5, 2020), signalling a further sign of modest recovery by the aviation sector.
